Yevheniia Varyvoda, Ph.D., has a background in environmental geography with expertise in nature-based approaches for environmental and human health. Yevheniia Varyvoda co-authored advisory documents for UNDP on the UNECE Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment capacity building in the Central and Eastern European Countries. She also consulted on reports for USAID on the identification of emerging technologies and innovations, sustainable practices to address climate-related challenges in food systems to decrease food loss and waste while improving diet and nutrition, in addition to boosting smallholder farmers’ productivity and profitability. Her research activity, professional teaching, and project implementation in environmental and public health research have been conducted in North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Dr. Varyvoda’s research interest is dedicated to exploring and promoting solutions that are sensitive to local conditions to provide food security and precision nutrition for all in such a way that human, animal, and environmental health are not compromised. Dr. Varyvoda’s expertise is in the design of adaptation strategies that can guide policymakers, food system actors, and community leaders to formulate actionable solutions addressing climate-induced risks and closing the implementation gap in food and nutritional security.
