Alethia Fernández de la Reguera Ahedo
Dr. Alethia Fernández de la Reguera Ahedo is a full time researcher at the Institute of Legal Research of UNAM and Coordinator of the National Diversities Laboratory of UNAM and of the institutional research track: "Rights, Migrations and Mobilities". In 2021 she received the National University Distinction Award for Young Scholars 2021 in the area of social science research. She coordinates the Diploma “Gender and Equality Policies” and is academic coordinator of the Diploma “International Law for Refugees and International Protection in Mexico” at UNAM. She is a researcher at CAMINAR (Comparative Analysis on International Migration and Displacement in the Americas) and a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI - 1). Specialist in gender and migration, immigration detention, bureaucracies, gender violence and women's autonomy. She recently published the article Immigration Detention, the Patriarchal State and Politics of Disgust (2022) the book Detención migratoria. Prácticas de humillación, asco y desprecio (2020) and her book Caravanas in co-authorship with Luciana Gandini and Juan Carlos Narváez was awarded the 2019 - 2020 "Willian M. LeoGrande Award” as the best book on Latin American Studies by the Center for Latin American Studies at the American University.
La Dra. Alethia Fernández de la Reguera Ahedo es Investigadora titular en el Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la UNAM, Coordinadora del Laboratorio Nacional Diversidades de la UNAM y de la Línea de investigación Institucional: “Derechos, Migraciones y Movilidades”. Es ganadora del reconocimiento Distinción Universidad Nacional para Jóvenes Académicos 2021 en el área de investigación en ciencias sociales. Es coordinadora del Diplomado “Género y Políticas de Igualdad” del Posgrado de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la UNAM y coordinadora académica del Diplomado “Derecho Internacional para Personas Refugiadas y Protección Internacional en México” del Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas. Es Investigadora en CAMINAR (Comparative Analysis on International Migration and Displacement in the Americas) e integrante del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI – 1). Especialista en género y migración, detención migratoria, burocracias, violencia de género y autonomía de las mujeres. Dentro de sus publicaciones recientes se encuentra el libro Detención migratoria. Prácticas de humillación, asco y desprecio y su libro Caravanas en co-autoría con Luciana Gandini y Juan Carlos Narváez fue galardonado con el Premio “Willian M. LeoGrande” 2019 – 2020 como el mejor libro sobre estudios latinoamericanos por el Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos de la American University.
