Andia Haxhi

Human Rights Practice MA student

My main areas of interest and focus within the field of Human Rights Practice are advocacy and awareness. Concretely, I am studying how to promote human rights through public awareness campaigns and advocacy efforts to change policies and practices, as well as analyzing laws and policies at any level to ensure they uphold human rights standards.

I enrolled in the Human Rights Practice Program because I have always been passionate about advocating for social justice and human rights. Over the years, I have become aware of pressing issues related to human rights violations and discrimination. Being aware of this situation has increased my determination to contribute to improving the lives of vulnerable and marginalized groups. I am sure that this program will equip me with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to effectively contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights.

Living in Tirana, Albania, I believe that having the opportunity to study human rights at the University of Arizona and in light of American democratic values will provide me with an unmatched experience that I can bring back to the institutions in my home country and aim to inspire my peers with the lessons learned. Human Rights is the present and the future. These rights are the most fundamental and without them, no justice and no democracy in any meaningful sense can exist.
